Veterinarians may have trained at a university. See University Records.

REGISTRATION

The registration of veterinarians began in Victoria in 1887. Unregistered people were prevented from practising as veterinary surgeons from that time.

Public Record Office Victoria has the following:

• veterinary lists 1893-2012 (VPRS 17301)
• veterinary practitioner registers 1888-1999 (VPRS 17306)

These are not online.

Public Record Office Victoria has records relating to the Veterinary Board of Victoria 1888-1997 (VA 1148) and Veterinary Practitioners Registration Board of Victoria 1997-Present (VA 1148).

VETERINARY PRACTITIONERS REGISTRATION BOARD OF VICTORIA - VETERINARY PRACTITIONERS AND VETERINARY SPECIALISTS REGISTER

At present in order to practise veterinary practitioners and veterinary specialists need to be registered.
