REGISTRATION

The registration of veterinarians began in Victoria in 1887. Unregistered people were prevented from practising as veterinary surgeons from that time.

Public Record Office Victoria has the following:

• veterinary lists 1893-2012
• veterinary practitioner registers 1888-1999

These are not online.

Public Record Office Victoria has records relating to the Veterinary Board of Victoria 1888-1997 and Veterinary Practitioners Registration Board of Victoria 1997-Present.

At present in order to practise veterinary practitioners and veterinary specialists need to be registered.
