Pharmacists

Pharmacists were known as pharmaceutical chemists, homoeopathic chemists or druggists historically.

REGISTRATION

The registration of pharmacists began in Victoria in 1876. Unregistered people were prevented from practising pharmacy from this time. After this changes to the pharmaceutical register appear at times in the Victorian Government Gazette. Lists of registered pharmaceutical chemists appeared annually in January in the Victorian Government Gazette from 1899. See Government Gazettes.

• registers of apprentices for indenture 1892-1960
• examination results 1877-1938

At present in order to practise pharmacists need to be registered.
