REGISTRATION

Under the Building Act 1993 building practitioners were required to be registered.

Victorian Building Authority - Building Practitioners Register

At present in order to operate builders need to be registered. The building practitioners register includes building surveyors, building inspectors, quantity surveyors, draftspersons, domestic project managers, erectors/supervisors of temporary structures, commercial builders, domestic builders and demolishers.

Australian Architectural Index

This was compiled by Miles Lewis in 1986. It covers the nineteenth century to the 1950s and was prepared from a card index held by the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Melbourne. It includes a searchable database of builders and lists their projects.
