These are provided in association with State Records Authority of NSW. This collection consists of school education records for New South Wales. It includes teacher applications, school admission registers and records, and various letters received by the National Board of Education and Council of Education. A book Vision and Realisation: a centenary history of state education in Victoria, edited by L. J. Blake in three volumes was published in 1973. This book may be found in local libraries. It has brief histories of all state schools in Victoria.

Teacher registers were printed in the Victorian government gazettes. See Government Gazettes.

 

VICTORIAN EDUCATION GAZETTE AND TEACHERS' AID 1905-1992 - TEACHER REGISTERS

Teacher registers can be seen in the Victorian education gazette and teachers' aid from 1905 to 1992. These are held by the State Library of Victoria and Public Record Office Victoria. They are not online.

 

VICTORIAN GOVERNMENT GAZETTES - SUPPLEMENTARY TEACHER REGISTERS 1911-1983

Supplementary teacher registers were printed in the Victorian government gazettes annually. These include alterations, additions, revisions and removals. See Government Gazettes.

This includes short biographies and photographs of most of the 724 teachers who served in World War 1. Also mentions teachers whose sons or brothers died on service as well as those who volunteered and were rejected (mostly on medical grounds).

A book "The Inspectors: An Account of the Inspectorate of the State Schools of Victoria 1851-1983" by David Holloway was published in 2001.This book may be found in local libraries. This is a history of inspectors in Victoria and includes biographies of inspectors.
